How is it March already SOBBB ; A ; Castle Point Anime Convention is at the end of the month and i'll be there in the artist alley! It'll be my first time having a table there so i'm really looking forward to it :) I'm gonna try to pump out a lot of new fanart, but i'll also have some oldies from my gallery to even things out, like Vanellope, Morrigan, Sylveon, and Tina & Louise, which i'll probably sell in limited quantity as stickers or small prints. I'll also be in cosplay as seifuku Rei Hino (Sailor Mars), with a full Sailor Moon seifuku group, which i'm super excited about! (U v U)<333

~Katsucon Recap~

Its been a few weeks since Katsucon. I can hardly believe its already over when I spent a whole year looking forward to it??? It was my 2nd time going and a bit more cosplay intensive, even though I only ended up doing four costumes (compared to last year when I only did one), which were Bee & Puppycat, Lucina from FE:A, One from Drakengard 3, and Rule!63 Vincent Valentine, the latter one borrowed from a good friend. It was a good weekend, got to see some friends and meet new ones, saw amazing cosplays and have fun shoots. I was very lucky to end up rooming in the Gaylord with my good friend, Steve, and even have an atrium room on the 10th floor * 0 * Even though I had a great time, I feel this may be my *last* Katsucon. Why? MAGfest just seems a bit more appealing at this point. I've heard nothing but good things about it, plus the same gorgeous venue, less crowds, video games, and more choice shoot locations that aren't overcrowded. It also seems incredibly chill and more of a party con, so it's definitely something i'd be interested in if enough of my friends decide to go next year.

~New Shows~

I've been really into watching Yurikuma Arashi, Death Parade, Parasyte -the maxim-, and just got caught up with Sailor Moon Crystal (ackk, hate/love with that derp animation). I'm already planning cosplays for Ginko (YA) and Nona (DP) <333 Non-anime related, but i've also been super into The Walking Dead and the Terminator movies as of late XD

~Future Cons~

I'll probably go ahead and make a separate post for this once plans become more solid, but I figure I might as well include this since I hardly every post updates here ^^;

CPAC
Sakura Matsuri
Fanime *maybe*
Shinkoucon *maybe*
NYCC *huge maybe cuz its a big pain in the ass esp. for cosplay???*

D: Sorry guys for general lack of updates. I haven't been drawing much and i've lost a huge amount of interest in DA the past year or two..I don't really think i'll update too much anymore, sadly :/ I might just move to Tumblr completely one of these days.. *shrug*

Just got back from AnimeNext '14, my home con! Wow, I can't believe i've been going for about 9 years in a row, since back in 2006! I was such a shy and timid little high schooler then haha. It's honestly just friendship-con/back-and-forth con (because of the bridge outside, constantly walking back and forth lol) at this point haha. My group of friends, both close and those i've made through cosplay, make it worthwhile. It may not be the best con, but I don't mind. And it's cost effective, because I live like an hour away!

I got there Friday morning, changed into Kiki until it was time to check-in to our hotel, and changed into Ryuko for the rest of the day. That night we missed the burlesque we usually attend every year because of partying at my friends hotel and losing track of time XD It was too much fun <3

Saturday, I changed into Ryuko again for the Kill la Kill meet-up at 2pm, but ended up missing it ;___; *weeps* I was a bit mislead, because it was supposed to be at the Red Dock, but when I got there all I saw were One Piece peeps, so I got confused and left. As I saw some KLK people trickling from the Double Tree, I took pics and selfie'd with them, and found out the KLK shoot had been moved away from the Red Dock and into the farther, more grassy area. *sigh* I also later found out Studio Trigger (makers of KLK) was there and missed them as well ;_____; *gross weeping* After that I met up with a few peoples, took more pics and posed for pics. Got to meet and selfie'd with Luvnatsu ! Then went back to my hotel to change into Einheria from Bravely Default, but that didn't end up happening until like 7pm, because of waiting on people and food runs lol;;; My friend Beh-Bear was cosplaying with me as Artemia, and she and my bf helped me into the armor, which is a complete menace to maneuver in (I cannot bend my knees to walk, so I waddle, sometimes sideways if theirs people, like a hermit crab. I can't sit, and can basically only turn my neck and move my arms XD). It's also a safety hazard as I have several spears sticking out of my armor skirt that could trip or poke you XD Which is why I decided not to wear it around the con! We had a quick shoot in front of the convention center, by the pond, before the sun went down. It was a pretty funny shoot actually XD My skirt-spears kept falling off XD Earlier a friend of mine had talked about going down to our hotel's pool, and after that shoot and the day's heat, that was all I could think about, so my bf and I headed there to cool off for a bit. We also got to try out the jacuzzi, which was super relaxing!! After that, we again went to drink and party in my friend's hotel room ;) Several shots later, we went over to check out the rave and that was awesome tooooo, especially if you're already inebriated! I ended up bumping into a former coworker of mine there too, haha.

Sunday. HANGOVER DAY. My body felt like crap all over, from running around at the con, walking like a hermit crap in Einheria armor, dancing at the rave, and lots of shots/dranks XD Check-out was at 11pm, and I literally just threw stuff into my bag, wigs, shampoo, shoes, whatever, because I felt so lightheaded and like I was gonna hurl at any minute XD We left our luggage and things at my other friends hotel and just hung out there basically for the rest of the day, because my body needed to recover. I ended up having to cancel a shoot I had scheduled for 1pm because I couldn't even keep myself upright, but the photographer was really nice about it and I hope to work with her soon <3 I asked my friends to get me KLK pins at the Artists Alley and they brought me back really cute ones <3333333 Artists Alley is one of my favorite things to go to at a con, but this year was one of those that I just didn't want to carry anything, probably because of all my props XD. So yeah, we just chilled at the hotel until 6pm, and then headed home!

It was nice to see KADU-OUT naminepanda ohmonah KingAkatsuki13 , even if it was only for a little while! Special thanks to my bud bud, KawaiiOverdose for making my Kiki bow and dress! <3 And Jared, for making my cray Einheria armor!

If you haven't already, feel free to check out my cospage www.facebook.com/samaimurai to keep up with all my cosplay adventures!!

Wow..

That was the worst title. You can slap me.

Got really FUCKING INTO KILL LA KILL. And a few other anime, like Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions. Went to CPAC. Fun times. Did KLK shoot as Episode 1 Ryuko w/ bestie photog :> Beat Pokemon X. Gonna pick up Bravely Default next, so late to the game, so late. Forever late. This is the laziest update ever. Its like 2am, and I have 9am work tomorrow, what even. Failure. Excite for Sakura Matsuri next weekend in Brooklyn. Cosing Miku and gonna sing to the cherry blossoms, inappropriately. Maybe it will be the coolest.

Bye, I love you.

Hey guys! So it's been a little over a week since I got back from Katsu, and finally have some time to sit down and tell you about my journey! Better late than never XD I only brought along my Anna cosplay for the weekend, now i'm thinking next time I'll be more ambitious! \(= v = )9 Also impulsively bought a pink 3DS XL just days before the con instead of buying more urgent necessities. This I feel was the result of having a few really crappy days leading up to that and wanting to treat myself, at the worst possible timing. Lol what is self-control?? PSHHH.

So! OK. Let me actually start this?

My friends and I drove down from NJ on Wednesday night DURING the emergency watch snowstorm (yea, it was terrifying). NOT a smart move. We had planned to leave earlier in the day, BUT LIFE. Also we thought it'd be better than driving down early Thursday, because it was said the snow was only supposed to get worse (IRONY IT DIDN'T RLY OTL;;;). As we drove, we didn't have much control over the car in the snow, and couldn't see much around us either, so we were going maybe like 5 mph, 5 persons worth of luggage up to our ears, and stalking any and all the salt trucks we could find (there was a great many of the majestic beasts). We left around 8pm, made a quick stop to pick up a friend in Philly, and reached our destination around 2am, so that should give you some idea, time-wise.

We ate special brownies to celebrate our survival. And it was excellent. BUT ALSO TERRIBLE. (!!!)

THURSDAY: Finally got my first glimpse of the Gaylord around afternoon-ish, after departing friends place where we had stayed the night before, met up with MYT-Designs (thank you for letting me stay with you guys :heart:!!!) & hotel mates at the Hampton Inn, (super conveniently located across the street from Katsu, BLESS ; u ;), helped them carry some stuff for their AA set-up, did some solo roaming before grabbing a BLT sandwich for dinner at the pricey sport bar place inside the Gaylord (but it was HELLA GOOD and came with pickles+fries), and some snacks at the convenience store that lasted through my stay. (I still have this bag of M&M's lol). Chilled with roomies for a bit, played some 3DS and settled in for the night in my red panda kigu~

FRIDAY: Breakfast & nap XD. Made my way to the con w/ Mae around 2pm-ish when she came back for a costume change, I dressed casual as the only shoot I had planned for the day was at 6pm, got my reg. badge (that line THOUGH. it only took about an hour, but felt like half of katsu was waiting on it D: both pre-reg and reg, though reg. was a lot faster) did some roaming, met up with friends, went back to hotel to change into Anna, met up with photog friend Gerardo for a shoot (briefly got scolded by pissy Gaylord security >A<), even managed a few inside the omnipresent Gazebo lord. Changed and grabbed dinner with friends at a place down the block, and watched them get flung from a mechanical bull XD. Went back with them to the Wyndham hotel and partied, drank a bit and played drinking games, went back to the con for shenanigans, and stayed the night at Wyndham~

SATURDAY: Made way back to Hampton Inn for breakfast, napped again, went to the con at 5pm as Anna, got asked to pose with some kids a few times "Look, Ma, it's Anna!" (it was really cute and made me feel for a second like an actual Disney Park Princess lololol), met lots of cool Elsa's, Hans', Olaf, and other Anna's, (didn't find a Kristoff until Sunday D':) a few of which gave me some sweet belated Valentines :heart:, met up with friends, ran around taking pix, chatted with cool peeps, a lady gave me & a friend boxes of Pocky (so nice ; A ;!!), met up with Becki, Baldwin, Merry, and Aki and ordered Italian food and just hung out watching Scooby-Doo in their room at the Gaylord. Went back to my hotel for an early night~

SUNDAY: aka the only day I actually bothered to get up early because we needed to check-out XD Had breakfast~ In transit, from hotel to con, I managed to break the extended handle off my luggage so bending down awkwardly as I rolled my luggage became a thing XD roamed around, met up with Eric, Kad, and Cindy and got lunch at Potbelly, near the super cute Peep store ; A ; <333 National Harbor is so lovely, must be so nice to chill there during the warmer weather!! after went back to Katsu and shot some more quick pix of cosplayers, chilled with peeps some more, thought I lost my bag of things I bought from AA & Dealer's Room but realized I left it with my roomies in AA @__@

Overall, it was a really great con experience! I'm so so glad I went (it was a super last minute decision). The Gaylord and surrounding areas are beautiful, even with the snow making things cray and dangerous, and the no prof. photography at Katsu was pretty lame, but I was told that was nothing in comparison to Jewcon the year before XD Going into it, I was really insecure about being on my own at Katsucon, because I wasn't involved in any planned cosplay groups, or have many cosplays to debut/change into, or basically have anything planned to keep me busy or build a schedule around. I was prepared to just be content roaming alone as Anna all con, essentially, and I was scared of the loneliness at a very social environment. But things didn't turn out so much like that, and I guess I kind of lucked out and met a ton of friendly, cool peeps. I just need to learn to embrace being out of my comfort zone <3333

woooooo so long 0 A 0 ;;;;

My, my. DA, how you've changed. I've been a bit busy here IRL trying to figuring out this being an adult business. I've been out of college for one year already and actually made minimal progress :/ Haven't had the opportunity to move out yet or travel, I only just recently opened my first bank account. I've held a couple part-time jobs since, in addition to the one i'm currently working at, but it's not what I want to be doing. It's really easy to give in to feeling down on yourself and binging on pity parties, but at the end of the day nothing good will come out of it. I might start updating again just to get myself out of this insufferable art block that i've got going on. I miss art as an escape. I miss feeling good about myself through the things I create. Lately, i've been getting my artistic fix from frequent trips to Broadway shows (i'm so thankful to live so close to the city!) this season i've seen The Trip to Bountiful, Macbeth, Soul Doctor, and First Date. Just to throw it out there, most bway show have AMAZING DISCOUNTS (about 1/10th of what you'd normally pay) if you do your hw and rush/student rush for tickets C:

Find me on IG! ---> @voyagedereves

Anyway yeah, keep an eye out for some updates!
